There are so many sights to see when in Rome that it’s tough to lay out an itinerary for yourself let alone make recommendations for others, so when asked where to go when in Rome, I mention the places my wife and I visited knowing that at least the places recommend have been recently visited by us and that my information is current.

The top of my must see list for Rome is the Borghese Gallery. The original sculptures and paintings in the Borghese Gallery date back to Cardinal Scipione’s collection, when in 1607, the Pope gave the Cardinal 107 paintings which had been confiscated by the Roman Catholic Church. Ticket reservation is mandatory and well worth the advanced planning should you be a true art aficionado. Be aware of their being closed on Monday.
