In the city of Valletta, the vast majority of the streets are completely straight. The Republic is the central street, as well as the parallel street Merchants. Between the two concentrated commercial life of the city and government buildings. The cross streets on the other hand, are usually much lower.
The main tourist attraction in town is the Cathedral of San Juan-Baroque style, whose entrance is located on Republic Street. The cathedral dates from the sixteenth century and treasured pieces of great artistic value for the donations that made the Knights of the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem.
The capital of Malta is located on a promontory on the east coast. It lies between the Grand Harbor to the south and the port of Marsamxett the north.
In front of Valletta is the town of Sliema, a modern and cosmopolitan city, with numerous hotels, cafes, bars, cinemas and nightclubs.

Thanks for the info. Good to take into account on my next trip!
